Swedish Supper

Swedish Supper

Celebrating its rich Swedish Heritage, the Olsburg Lutheran Church has hosted a traditional Swedish Supper for the past 52 years.

The 53rd Annual Swedish Supper will be held Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. (4675 Hwy 16, Olsburg, KS) The cost for adults is $13 and $6 for children 6-12.

Tickets are available by contacting Woody Kasselman (785.468.3682/woodyk@twinvalley.net) or by visiting the Union State Bank and Loberg Grocery in Olsburg.

History:
The Olsburg community was settled primarily by Swedes and Norwegians, though the surrounding communities were composed of other ethnic groups, including those from Scotland, England and Germany. As a reminder of this heritage, our community has used the symbol of the Dala horse in some of our logos and other advertising. One other way we remember this heritage is with the annual Swedish Supper held the first Saturday in December. The Swedish Supper has been a fundraiser since 1956 for the Olsburg Lutheran Church. Included in the Olsburg Centennial book was a photo of the Lutheran Church building, the beginning of the line at the Swedish Supper, and list of the Swedish foods served and the Dala horse logo used for the centennial.
